Computer Engineering Student Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology in Computer Engineering Technology

Bachelor of Science Computer Engineering Technology graduates design and use computer system hardware and software, accomplish network design and are involved in the deployment of computer systems for companies of all sizes and disciplines.

This program is offered on-campus only.

To meet industry’s growing demand for computer- and technology-proficient employees, Northeastern offers the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology degree.

Accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., this focused undergraduate degree includes courses in technical literacy, mathematics, engineering graphics, network and data analysis, software development, and electro-mechanical systems. To complete your degree, you may choose from specializations in computer system administration and digital/embedded systems.

Who it’s for? The Computer Engineering Technology degree is designed for students who are interested in designing, engineering, and testing networks and computers or who seek to develop expertise in interfacing computers with various types of equipment used in automation, networking and manufacturing.

Typical job titles may include: computer systems analyst, software engineer, computer programmer, electrical or electronic engineer, information system scientist or analyst, and industrial engineer.

What the job market looks like: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer software engineers and computer programmers is projected to increase much faster than the average for all occupations—with degree-holders expected to enjoy the best opportunities. As of 2008, about 32% of computer software engineers and computer programmers worked in computer systems design and related services, often for software publishers, computer and equipment manufacturers, financial institutions, and insurance companies.
