Offers a historical survey of microbiology. Emphasizes the close relationship between the development of technology and science. Compares prokaryotic and eukaryotic cellular morphology and physiology, including bioenergetics, carbohydrate metabolism, and cellular nutrition and growth. Prereq. BIO 1410.
