Urban Health

Starting with the fall 2009 term, this course will be renumbered as PTH 6440.


This course will introduce the fundamentals of urban health and all associated aspects in relation to practice as a doctoring professional. Students will explore the concept of adapting practice by considering differences in culture, gender, age, sexual orientation, and disability or health status. You will participate in activities and critical inquiry so as to enhance your awareness and self-awareness of cultural and individual differences and their relationship to professional practice and interactions. In addition, students will utilize epidemiological principles and data to promote optimal health and provide consultation for patients/clients in a variety of urban settings.
