Understanding the Financial Landscape of Education
EDU6271 / 3 q.h.
Begins by recognizing that colleges and universities are ultimately dependent, as in any organization, on financial resources to operate. Where do institutions of higher education get their funding? What do they do with the financial resources they have? This course investigates the different revenue sources of not-for-profit colleges and universities: public support, tuition, philanthropy, fees for service, research, endowment interest, sports revenue, grants, etc. Particularly addresses the many complexities and common restrictions involved in financial management, funds allocation and use, and when and if financial exigency is necessary.
