Assessment and Student Learning

Based on the premise that a strong assessment system can advance student learning, not just measure it. Examines and critiques assessment strategies from the classroom, district (K–12), and state level. Offers students an opportunity to learn how to develop effective classroom assessment systems that allow them to better understand students’ learning needs. Explores the role of classroom, state, and national assessment data in informing curricula decisions at every level. Seeks to convey to students the competencies to participate in gradewide, schoolwide, or districtwide projects addressing assessment systems.
