Introduces operational safety. Examines the concept of the programmable logic controller (PLC) and its associated I/O elements. Works with various manufacturers’ PLCs while analyzing coding concepts in relay ladder logic (RLL). Examines distributed I/O and its applications. Examines the concept of the variable frequency drive (VFD). Uses the concept of team design through required weekly student design projects and requires a final team project. Prereq. ETE 2103.
