Operating Systems Concepts

Offers students an opportunity to obtain a working knowledge of contemporary operating systems. To provide practical hands-on experience, two operating systems have been chosen: Microsoft Windows, a multitasking OS for personal computers, workstations, and servers; and UNIX, a multiuser OS. Covers how to log in, create and manage files and directories, connect to services like the WWW, and use system utilities. Examines operating system objectives and functions, as well as the history and general characteristics of the two operating systems that serve as examples. Prereq. ITC 1001.
