Calculus 1

MTH4231 / 4 q.h.

Starting with the fall 2009 term, this course will be renumbered as MTH 3005.


This course includes a review of conic sections and trigonometry. Topics include general function operations, limits, derivations of single variable functions including algebraic and trigonometric functions, general rules of differentiation, derivitives of exponential, logarithmic, and inverse trigonometric functions. Applications include differentiation to velocity, acceleration, related rates, physics, Newton's Method, optimization, and curved sketching. A graphing calculator is required, the make and model to be specified at the first class meeting.
