POL2100 / 3 q.h.
Formerly POL 4307.

Surveys problems of health in developing countries and examines issues of basic human needs and quality of life, including worldwide patterns of disease, undernourishment, population growth, poverty, morbidity, and child survival. Health concerns in one part of the world influence the political, social, and economic well-being of all. Focuses on inequalities of gender, class, and ethnicity that hinder programs at the community level. Analyzes aspects of national policy in both development-aid countries and developing countries and explores specific challenges to creating effective health-care delivery systems.
