Sociology of AIDS

SOC2310 / 3 q.h.
Formerly SOC 4203.

Studies the emergence of HIV and AIDS, the transmission of the disease, and the various effects of the disease on individuals. Explores government and media reactions to AIDS, racism and homophobia in the public’s response to AIDS, and the “moral status” of the disease. HIV and AIDS are pandemic; explores the worldwide societal impact.
