Usability

TCC6120 / 4 q.h.
Formerly PW 3374.

Examines how usability testing requires information products to test, a testing plan, test materials, a place to perform the test, opportunity to collect data, time to write usability results, and analysis to develop a redesign plan. Begins with students testing an existing Web site with existing test materials. Then students locate a different information product that needs analysis, develop plans and materials, conduct a usability test with a sample user group in the department’s computer lab, and submit usability and redesign reports. While a portion of class meeting time is dedicated to the development of usability-testing materials, students spend significant amounts of time working outside of class. The course ends with a look into the possible futures of usability.
