Foundations of Organizational Change

Provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of organizational change. Students have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of its history, basic principles, current practices, and technologies. The critical role of the change agent is also examined. In addition, the many recognized theories of organization, from the organization as a machine to the organization as a complex adaptive system, are surveyed. Students have an opportunity, not only to reshape how they think about organizational change by analyzing real-world cases using established organizational change theories and diverse perspectives, but also to explore their own effectiveness in assuming the role required for designing, facilitating, and sustaining a change initiative.
