What is Online Experiential Learning?

headshot of john labrieThe phrase “online experiential learning” is new, but the idea isn’t. It brings together the best that online education has to offer—high quality, rigorous courses; deep engagement with professors and fellow students; flexibility; and learning with and from people all over the world—with the rock-solid idea at the core of Northeastern University for decades: that there’s a powerful relationship between learning and work , especially in graduate professional studies.

This new learning model lets students take what they learn in class and apply it directly and immediately to a valuable project in their own workplace—cementing the knowledge and contributing to the vibrant learning environment of the online classroom.

Here at Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies we believe the result is graduate professional education that responds to the needs of both employers and students. And in today’s competitive work world—where employability becomes more important every day—nothing could be more vital.
