Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution Studies

The Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution Studies is based on the belief that international comparisons and experiences generate new approaches to local and global issues through interactions outside of one’s own cultural context.

We are no longer accepting new students for this program. Most courses are still being offered; please consult with an academic and student support services representative for more information.

Although we have the tools for global communication, we often lack the skills needed to avoid the inevitable misunderstandings and conflicts that may arise as a result of such communication. The Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution Studies is based on the belief that international comparisons and experiences generate new approaches to local and global issues through interactions outside of one’s own cultural context. It is intended to train individuals working in the fields of public service, non-governmental organizations, business, education, social work, health care professions, media, and law.

The broad goals of the program are the following:

  1. to develop an understanding of conflict, conflict resolution and prevention
  2. to develop an understanding of the various approaches to peace and conflict resolution generally and in a focused area of interest
  3. to develop skills in communication, negotiation, and mediation
