Summer Global Academic Programs in Boston

Immerse yourself in a world of learning -- study in Boston in 2008! Boston is a high-energy, international hub of culture, education, commerce, and recreation that combines the diverse, cosmopolitan, and cutting-edge vibe of a major city complemented by the "neighborhood flavor" of a safe and livable town. Northeastern's central location puts you "in the heart of it all."

Boston As Campus programs are intensive academic courses offered in a two-week format at Northeastern University and throughout the city of Boston. These programs use the city and its renowned cultural, historical, and sites of geographic importance as part of the teaching and learning experience. They draw upon Northeastern University's faculty to offer a unique learning experience that combines education with a rich urban experience. Tuition includes activities that are part of the program.

English Plus+ Boston As Campus programs provide English language instruction in content-focused programs designed to engage participants with the Boston community while earning academic credit.

Global Leadership Programs are designed especially for graduate-level students in the Master of Science in Leadership; Graduate Certificate in Leadership; or the Global Leadership Dual Degree Program offered at Northeastern's partner institutions abroad. These courses may be applied to the appropriate degree or certificate program. Earn 8 quarter hour graduate credits in just 4 weeks, while engaging with local students in classes offered on the Boston campus.

English for Academic Purposes programs are 8 week intensive English programs for highly motivated students who intend to enter university degree programs (undergraduate or graduate) in the US. The primary focus of the EAP is on developing the language, study, and cross-cultural skills required to succeed in American higher education.  The program also prepares students for the challenges of the application and admissions process, and offers students the opportunity to gain insight into the U.S. university system, instructor expectations, and student responsibilities.
Business Case Program uses business cases, videotaping, and public speaking techniques to help students develop the speaking skills and confidence to become more effective participants in group discussions. The Case Discussion classes use cases to focus on improving language skills and participation techniques through simulations of team bargaining, presentation sessions, and running meetings. In the Case Skills classes, the concentration is on helping students improve the speaking, listening, leadership and writing skills necessary for presenting cases. In addition, students receive instruction in business writing skills: writing business memos as well as a business plan and a marketing report, and using Power Point to prepare agendas and presentations.
