Admission Requirements

Admission to the Doctorate in Law & Policy program is highly selective and space is limited. The program attracts applicants with strong academic backgrounds, leadership potential, and a demonstrated commitment to their field of study.

Admission requires satisfactory completion of a J.D., M.D., or a master's degree from an accredited U.S. university or its equivalent, as well as substantial professional experience. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required, but GRE scores will be considered.

In addition to the general graduate admission requirements, applications for the Doctorate of Law & Policy also require:
  • Professional resume including accomplishments, awards, and articles published
  • Official academic transcript(s) showing satisfactory completion of a bachelors degree and an advanced degree, such as a J.D., M.D., or masters degree, at an accredited U.S. university or its equivalent
  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals who have either academic or professional knowledge of your capabilities, such as an employer, graduate faculty member, colleague, or mentor
  • Phone Interview - after receipt of your application and supporting materials, a representative may contact you to schedule a phone interview with faculty.

While it is recommended that all students to attend pre-program doctoral seminars designed by faculty to ensure foundational competencies prior to beginning the rigorous doctoral curriculum,  some applications for admission will be required to attend the pre-program doctoral seminars in economics, statistics, doctoral writing and methods, and/or law and policy.

Application for Admission
Applicants must submit an application form, professional resume, academic transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Candidates also may be asked to schedule a phone interview with members of the faculty. Additional documentation may be required from international students. Admitted students have 30 days to secure their place in the program with a $500 deposit.
