MPS In Digital Media

As of fall 2009, the Master of Professional Studies in Digital Media will become a “cohort” program. A “cohort” is a unique program format, in which all coursework is completed with the same group of students. This format establishes a sense of community among students, encourages networking between students, and creates strong working collaborations which extend well beyond the academic experience.

A full-time student (carrying eight q.h. per session) joins the program in one of two cohorts, which begin in the fall (September) or winter (January) sessions. Not all specializations will be offered in both cohorts. Students who declare a 3-D Animation Specialization will begin in the fall. Students who declare either a Digital Photography or Digital Video Specialization will begin in the winter. All other students, including those who do not plan to specialize in one area, can begin in either the fall or winter.

Prospective full-time students are still welcome to apply for the digital media program at any time during the year, but must declare a specialization at that time. If accepted, they will be admitted into the next open cohort in the spring and summer, but the program will not be able to guarantee that courses in their area of specialization will be available in every session during the year.

The cohort program does not apply to part-time students, although they are encouraged to begin their studies in the fall or winter to connect with other new students.
