Nonprofits today require managers to have a high level of managerial
expertise, oversee a wide range of responsibilities, and manage people
and projects both efficiently and effectively. As nonprofit
organizations increasingly face the threat of privatization and
for-profit competition, they must operate with business-like
efficiencies and strategies.
In order to successfully lead a nonprofit
organization, senior managers must possess knowledge and skills in the
areas of human resources management of salaried employees and
volunteers, fundraising, program development and evaluation, financial
management, marketing, and legal and governance issues.
The
Master of Science in Nonprofit Management program integrates theoretical approaches with practical applications
to prepare students for positions in either small or large nonprofit
organizations. Students will be able to tailor the degree program to
their unique needs by leveraging electives in areas such as human
services, health, education, and public history.
