What degree is conferred?
A Master of Science degree in Technology Commercialization is conferred by the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University upon successful completion of the program.
How can I expect to apply this degree?
Graduates of the program will be prepared to assume leadership roles within their organizations in areas such as: product development, product management, business development, mergers and acquisitions, business planning, and intellectual property management. Graduates will also be equipped to more intelligently start their own ventures.

When should I apply and when does the program begin?
The College of Professional Studies uses a rolling admissions process where applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. Students may start the program in April, September or January. Our Academic and Student Support Services staff is available to help you throughout the application and registration process. Do I have to complete the GRE or GMAT exam as part of my application?
No, but there is a requirement that students have 5 years work experience after completing their undergraduate degree. The admission decisions at the College of Professional Studies take into account the experience, knowledge, and motivation of adult students and working professionals. GMAT or GRE test scores are not required for admission.
How many quarter hours are required?
The program consists of 40 quarter hours to be completed online over the course of one year. Students take eight 3-quarter hour academic courses and four 4-quarter hour experiential project courses. Please visit www.northeastern.edu/cps/mstc/courses for more information on the course requirements.
Is there a part-time option?
No. The sequence of courses is fixed; you must take courses as they are outlined. In addition, the project work required for graduation mandates the same group of students attend class together.
Can coursework from other universities be transferred?
Transfer credit awards are made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the graduate program director. Please reference the student handbook for detailed information on credit transfer.
What is the tuition for the MSTC program?
The College of Professional Studies online tuition rate is $514* per quarter hour for the 2009 to 2010 academic year. MSTC courses range in length from three to four quarter hours, amounting to a tuition rate per course of $1542 (three quarter hours) to $2056 (four quarter hours). You pay for courses as you take them.

How do I get credit for work in the Online I-cubator?
Students participate in the Online I-cubator for the duration of the program by taking one 4-quarter hour I-cubator course each term. How much time do I need to spend each week in class?
The amount of time you spend in the program is based upon your learning style and the material covered. The curriculum for this program is oriented to the adult learner, allowing you to complete your degree while keeping up with professional and personal life commitments. You should plan on budgeting 10-15 hours for your schoolwork.
How big are the classes?
Class sizes vary, with a typical class size amounting to 20 students. For the venture courses, the size of a project team is approximately three to five students, however, a unique project may dictate a larger team. What jobs does this prepare me for?
