Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies Announces New Degree in Critical Industry:


Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs of Food and Food Industries

June 7, 2013 – Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies announces a new degree: Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs of Food and Food Industries, which will provide practical training for professionals looking to advance their education and career in this global industry.

The Program
The professional education field in the food industry is currently dominated by master’s degrees in food science, whereas the curriculum of the Master’s in Regulatory Affairs of Food and Food Industries focuses on food law and regulations.

The degree program consists of core courses covering a range of food science subjects necessary for all industry professionals and addresses business, management and legal topics critical to the success of companies and organizations in the food industry. Experienced industry leaders with real-world experience in the regulatory field will teach classes that include instruction on the food life cycle and project management, followed by an intensive regulatory module, which trains students to become proficient in the food regulatory field. The program finishes with elective categories in business and marketing as well as internal regulatory systems in order to strategically position graduates as essential industrial players.

This degree program is newly established and is scheduled to accept the first class of master’s degree students for the fall 2013 session.  Students will be required to complete 13 courses for 47 quarter hours. This program complements the College’s current Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs for Drugs, Biologics, and Medical Devices program which provides students with insight and expertise in specific disciplines in regulatory affairs so that students benefit from industry specific knowledge.
