Why Do I Need Extra Letters After My Name?

November 29, 2010

Kristin Greenwood, PT, MS, DPT, is a recent graduate of the College's doctorate of physical therapy (DPT) program and was recently published in ADVANCE for Physical Therapy & Rehab Medicine, a national, biweekly publication that connects rehab professionals with the latest issues surrounding the field. In an effort to answer common questions about the DPT program, she authored an article entitled “Why Do I Need Extra Letters After My Name?”.

In the article Kristin discusses the time commitment of the program, and acknowledges the continuous learning process.  She notes that the decision to pursue a DPT is different for each clinician -- it was about building a knowledge base and clinical practice for her. “The experience of obtaining my DPT solidified my passion in being a physical therapist. The DPT was a positive step in the future of my career and changed significantly how I practiced.”
