Technical Writing 1

Students learn the elements of technical writing: objectivity, audience analysis, planning, research, abstracts, summaries, graphics, definitions, procedures, and descriptions. The course provides practice in descriptive writing, classification and definition, preparing technical documentation, outlines, and descriptions of objects, mechanisms, and processes.

A diagnostic writing test is given at the first class meeting.


Technical Writing 2
TCC 4102 / 3 q.h.

July 23 - August 18
Online

Students apply the information gathering, organizational, and technical writing skills acquired in TCC 4101 Technical Writing 1 to more advanced projects. Students have the opportunity for extensive practice in formatting, organizing, writing, and editing a variety of technical documents.

Prerequisite: TCC 4101 Technical Writing 1.


Technical Writing (Intensive)
TCC 4103 / 6 q.h.

June 25 - August 18
Online

This course combines the content of TCC 4101 and TCC 4102 Technical Writing 1 and 2. In the first half, students learn the elements of technical writing: objectivity, audience analysis, planning, research, abstracts, summaries, graphics, definitions, procedures, and descriptions. The course provides practice in descriptive writing, classification and definition, preparing technical documentation, outlines, and descriptions of objects, mechanisms, and processes. In the second half, students apply these information-gathering, organizational, and technical writing skills to more advanced projects. Students have the opportunity for extensive practice in formatting, organizing, writing, and editing a variety of technical documents.

A diagnostic writing test is given at the first class meeting.
