FITW Grant

Northeastern has received a four-year, $3.9-million award through the First-in-the-World grant program, which was created to fund the development and testing of innovative approaches and strategies at colleges and universities that improve college attainment and make higher education more affordable for students and families.

The Lowell Institute School is squarely focused on increasing degree attainment in STEM and business fields, particularly for underserved student populations. We are using this grant to help develop innovative retention-enhancing interventions, coupled with appropriate experiential learning opportunities that we believe will make a significant impact on increasing student engagement and degree completion.
