Elizabeth Mahler

About

Dr. Mahler brings 25 years of experience in program and instructional design, staff development, strategic planning, and grant development/management in higher education, non-profit, corporate, and K-12 educational environments to her role as Teaching Professor at Northeastern University. She holds an MA in Instructional Systems Development from the University of Maryland and an earned doctorate in Human and Organizational Learning from George Washington University. She teaches graduate courses within the College of Professional Studies' Graduate School of Education and served as a Visiting Fellow with the College's Global Leadership Program at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. She is currently the Lead Faculty for the Master of Professional Studies and Graduate Certificate in Learning Experience Design & Technology (LXDT).

Dr. Mahler's interests include the reciprocal relationship between adult learning and development, 21st-century career development, midlife transitions, and the impact of generativity throughout adulthood. Dr. Mahler is a past board member and chapter president of the Life Planning Network and a Founding Member of the Encore Network. She is the author of the book chapter, "Midlife Work Role Transitions: Generativity and Learning in 21st Century Careers" in The Oxford Handbook of Reciprocal Development and Learning.
