About

Joe McNabb is a full-time faculty member in the Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining the faculty, he completed an 11-year term as president of LabourĂ© College. This position followed a 17-year tenure as professor and dean of faculty. He served as a commissioner on the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). He chaired, or served as site visitor, for many accreditation teams throughout the New England region and Europe. He has also served on numerous boards, including teaching hospitals, community educational agencies, and several non-profit organizations.

As part of the founding group, he served on the College of Professional Studies-Faculty Academic Council for five years, ending his term in 2019. He serves on various committees within the Graduate School of Education and chairs the College of Professional Studies Faculty Fund Committee. Additionally, he has served on the Northeastern University Faculty Senate as senator, member of the Senate Agenda Committee, and member of the Financial Affairs Committee.

His professional service includes his work as the federal case reporter for the Education Law Update, a publication of the Education Law Association. He reports on court cases related to faculty employment, academic affairs, student conduct, and finances in higher education. He also serves on the editorial board of Impacting Education-Journal of Transforming Professional Practice. He conducts proposal reviews for the Association for the Study of Higher Education, book proposals for Sage Publication, and serves as peer reviewer for several journals including the Journal of First-Generation College Success. He is a member of the national advisory committee of the Accreditation Commission of Midwifery Education. He earned his undergraduate degree at Boston University and his PhD at Northeastern University.
