I have been an adjunct Instructor of Biology for Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies since 2009, and am a Professor of Biology in the Natural Sciences Department and former Department Chair and Biology Program Coordinator at Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in Haverhill/Lawrence, MA. I received my Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Rhode Island in 1996 and have taught undergraduate biology, anatomy, physiology, invertebrate biology and marine biology.
My expertise is in marine invertebrate functional morphology, although I have several special interests including evolutionary biology & tropical ecology and have been to many places with students including the Florida Keys and the Amazon Basin for numerous field study courses. I visited near shore reefs and some inland cave systems in Belize with students (twice) to study tropical biogeology of Central America and have traveled to Ecuador (four times) with students for a field course that investigates the connection between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon Rainforest and also heavy an ornithology (bird) component. I plan to return to the Galapagos Islands in the near future.
